Starting out as a casual cashier in 2000, I worked my way up—through the late-night shifts, the broken ice-cream machines, and the endless order tickets—to owning my own fast food restaurant in South Africa. From humble beginnings behind the counter to the high-stakes world of running the show, my journey has been nothing short of a baptism by fryer.

I am no stranger to the trenches. With years spent working at various fast food head offices as a consultant and now as a business owner, I have been on both sides of the franchise fence: enforcing head office rules one day and navigating their demands the next. This rare vantage point means I truly understand the frustrations, challenges, and daily emotional rollercoaster that every franchisee faces.

From the sting of financial troubles, unreliable staff, and unresponsive suppliers, to the heartbreak of theft, equipment breakdowns, and unsupportive franchisors—i have seen it all.
